I just finished watching the film “Being Dad – Inspiration and Information for Dads to Be” and was blown away by this 80 minute documentary about becoming a dad. This is a must watch film for all moms and dads and especially for those soon-to-be-parents who are in the midst of their own journey beautifully unique to them.

As the father of 4 boys, including one with special needs, my experiences were as unique as those of the 40 dads interviewed for this documentary. The documentary summoned emotional memories that I had all but forgotten about. Having children is no doubt the most powerful experience I’ve been through and this documentary, Being Dad, is a powerful film that successfully restores these most precious of memories in an incredibly entertaining manner. I’m no film critic, but a “two-thumbs up” doesn’t do the film justice.

I recommend you and your wife set aside 80 minutes and enjoy the film online or order the DVD. Also, if you have a friend who is pregnant with a first child this would make for a meaningful gift as they navigate through their experience of becoming a mom or dad.

You can watch the 3 minute trailor here: Being Dad

The film is available on DVD for $25.99 (Being Dad DVD) or online for a special price of only $4.95 (regularly $9.95) here: Being Dad the Movie

For more information and details you can visit their Website at Being Dad USA.

I’m just not sure about this one… a co-ed baby shower? This means that men are supposed to attend? Yikes!

The mom author of the Little Black Journal is a big fan of co-ed baby showers, but pay close attention to these comments made by Ms. Lil’ Black Journal in her post explaining why she’s a fan:

“let me tell you, there is no funnier sight than a group of blind-folded men try to fumble their way through putting a diaper on a stuffed animal”

and…

“the presence of men make for some good laughs”

So dads…, before you get snookered into attending one of these co-ed baby showers be advised that you are the comedy routine! If you go at least demand some compensation and/or full rights and control over any pics or video taken at the “baby shower”.

For more check out the post at Little Black Journal. (Hint: don’t dare give her your name or email address!)

Fatherhood brings with it different experiences for each of us and Ralph’s experience is as unique to him as each of us are as individuals. He was kind enough to share his moving experience so please set aside 5 minutes to watch this video from The Evolution of Dad video collection.

“Hi, I’m your daddy,” Marine Lance Cpl. Michael Cintron informed his newborn son, Michael James.

Sitting in Iraq 6,000 miles from Brooklyn, Cpl. Cintron got to watch his newborn son being born. Aside from the awesome technology involved in allowing this event to happen, thanks go out to a nonprofit organization called Freedom Calls. They’ve been working hard to help soldiers stay connected with their loved ones regardless of the distance separating them. No doubt this new father is thrilled to have “been there” during this special moment in life.

The baby weighed in at 7 pounds, 3 ounces and the new dad weighed in with a proud : “Look! He’s looking at me!”

We thank you for your service Cpl. Cintron and welcome you to fatherhood!
