From the time I can remember I disliked shopping, unless it was a toy store, candy store, or something along those lines, but we’re talking over four decades ago.
Clothes Shopping is the Worst
I especially avoid clothes shopping and sadly it shows. Just today my wife went to return some items we received as Christmas gifts and even with a credit in hand I still couldn’t pull the trigger on having her buy me some badly needed shirts. I wasn’t with her and despite having images she had text’d me and a store credit that would cover the cost, I got flustered and bailed out on her. So here I sit with very few decent shirts and those have lifespans as long as my older sons.
We Want to Get it Over With
I share this because I think a lot of men have a similar distaste for shopping. Am I right? Either way it is clear that shopping online instead of at the mall or stores is much preferred. Add to that the incredible ease with which you can check out far more available items in less time and you actually have an efficient shopping operation. We guys like to do things fast so that benefit of online shopping scores high marks.
We Want Better Deals
More than wanting to avoid dragging through a shopping mall and to get ‘er done fast we men like to save money. Shopping online when you know what you’re after is perhaps the single best way to save a ton of money over the course of a year. There seems to always be a better deal and it’s not always at Amazon or even an online retailer you’ve heard of. I have saved thousands this way and I’m not a heavy shopper.
We Love/Hate Coupons
I’m no “Couponer” when it comes the grocery stores (although I should be), but I’ve been amazed at just how many times I’ve found coupons that knocked quite a few dollars off a purchase with a few keystrokes. Coupons are a fantastic tactic for retailers to increase their sales so you’ll find them available across a wide variety retailers and brands. May as well perform a quick search and try. You have nothing to lose and money to save.
We Prefer Online Discount Sites
A friend of mine, Zoe Fisher, has been writing advice columns on bargain-shopping, couponing, simplifying family life for some time and with her three small children by her side and her mom there to advise her along the way she is launching her very own website to help people save money. DiscounTrue is the name (which I really like) and I encourage you to bookmark the link ( http://www.discountrue.com).
