Duped Dads

The ‘Duped Dads‘ Website was added to our Dads Web directory today. The creator of Duped Dads aim’s to bring to your attention the ever increasing and henious crime that is paternity fraud. You’ll find news and views from around the world to better inform you of the issues, laws and broken lives that this crime causes.

The site also cover issues associated with father’s rights, or lack of thereof, such as child support and loss of most parental rights although most fathers retain a large portion of the parenting responsibility.

Here’s an article from Time magazine from 2007 that sheds more light on the topic as well.

Add me to the list of “Duped Dads”. I’ve been fighting this thing for years and it shows no signs of getting any better. The child was born in 1990 and his mother and I divorced in 1993. I had no reason to believe that the child wasn’t mine and paid child support for 9 years. I only got to see him 3 times since 1993. When I had him tested using DNA, it just confirmed my suspicions. Now the Florida Department of Revenue is garnishing my wages to collect back support. I am a single parent of a son (I’ve tested and know he’s mine) and he suffers because the State of Florida is in my pocket for a kid that isn’t. I have to represent myself because I can’t afford a lawyer which I know won’t help(a fool for a client). I live in Texas and the AG here wont help so, in January, I’m headed to Florida for a week to see if I can get this thing resolved(I have to try). The child is now 19 and has been informed by me of the situation. His mother still wont say who his real father is….shameful. The only winners here are his mother and her lover/his father. I have learned my lesson and have already corrected the problem…….Vasectomy!!!!!!!!! Life’s a Bitch after you marry one. My suggestion to prevent this problem in the future is simple….DNA verification at birth will make this dissappear quicker than it has in the media and courtroom….and that’s fast!!!!

Thanks for sharing your story Mark! Sorry you were burnt so badly. I hope the kid isn’t privy to the nasty set of circumstances.
